Production Postponed

The production of Once On This Island has been postponed from its Jan. 15 scheduled opening night. In an abundance of caution, the cast have been rehearsing virtually. As you can imagine, this is a challenging experience for both adult and children actors. DFT values the commitment and hard work of this team and has decided to postpone the production to give both cast and crew more time to tell this delightful story. We will announce new dates soon!

At the behest of John the Baptist, young men and women forsake their jobs and take up the mantle of Jesus Christ -- becoming his disciples -- in a musical retelling of the Gospel of Matthew set in modern-day New York City. Using song and dance, the apostles traverse the city, spreading Christ's message of love and tolerance as the time moves ever closer to his betrayal at the hands of Judas and, ultimately, his crucifixion. The play's message is one of unity and faith. It is about the coming together of diverse communities, finding a way to get along with one another in peace and harmony.
