Following a move from New York City to small-town Indiana, young Evan Goldman grapples with his parents' divorce, prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school. Interesting note: 13 is the only Broadway musical ever with a cast and band entirely made of teenagers!

At the behest of John the Baptist, young men and women forsake their jobs and take up the mantle of Jesus Christ -- becoming his disciples -- in a musical retelling of the Gospel of Matthew set in modern-day New York City. Using song and dance, the apostles traverse the city, spreading Christ's message of love and tolerance as the time moves ever closer to his betrayal at the hands of Judas and, ultimately, his crucifixion. The play's message is one of unity and faith. It is about the coming together of diverse communities, finding a way to get along with one another in peace and harmony.
