A New Home for Desert Foothills Theater

Desert Foothills Theater has been growing!  From two fully-produced, adult-cast shows and a series of one-night fundraisers to a season of EIGHT full-scale productions and more than 52 performances a year, AND we'll be adding in a few "Pop-Up" one weekend shows, as well as a series of Playwright Festivals! Whew!

Did you know.....we also provide a full range Theater Educational Program, offering classes, camps and coaching throughout the year?

  • Theater Classes for All Ages running all year.

  • Winter Break Camps and Classes

  • Spring Break Camps and Classes

  • Summer Camps (five) and Classes

  • Three Cabaret Productions

  • Summer Advanced Drama Project

  • Presenting Series

  • Theater Integration Programs in area Schools

  • Community Outreach Performances

Nearly every day of the year there are 100s of people interacting with Desert Foothills Theater either in classes, rehearsals, building sets, making costumes, volunteering on committees or attending performances.

With all of our programming, that means that the designers (costume, directing, props, sets) have to have room to design, and then BUILD, the actors need space to rehearse not only the acting, but the dancing and the singing too!  Already we have limited space for all of these things, but more often than not, we have multiple productions and events running at the same time!  We are growing. Thanks to you, our communicty, we are growing. We need space to store costumes and props and set pieces that can be re-used. We need a space that we have access to when we need it - we'd LOVE to do a Christmas production, but alas, no access to a facility for rehearsals or for a production run.

It is time for us to do something about it!  In our performing facility (which is a high school theater)  all high school and other district school activities including dance, drama, music, testing, football parking (which they direct to the Fine Arts Center Parking Lot), have first priority for scheduling space (Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center).  Good for them that they are so incredubly busy!   In addition, our classroom and performance space at the FCF-Holland Community Center is continually becoming more challenging to secure as additional community needs for space have been growing.  This space was developed for multipurpose use and does not fully meet the needs of a quality theater or dance program including appropriate floor type, walls, storage space (those lights, sound and set pieces take up room!) sound, and so on. You get the picture.

You will hear us talk about our plans to secure our own facility. Here are some of the highlights:

Present additional small productions like:

    • puppetry and story telling

    • small theater presentations

    • magicians

    • comics

    • film events

    • lectures

    • author presentations

    • and more...

  • Provide classrooms with

    • Sprung floors (better quality for dance)

    • Mirrors

    • Storage space for rehearsal costumes and props

  • Expand additional income streams

    • Concessions to include alcohol

    • Concessions to include more quailty food items

    • Expanded education programming

  • Depending on the size of the space, offer a unique location for special events

    • Weddings

    • Galas

    • Business Meetings and more

Ways you can help:

Do you know of any land, building, location who might be willing to work with us to secure a permanent Theater Location?
Do you have any amazing thoughts, plans, ideas, suggestions for helping us raise the money we'll need to make this incredible move?
