Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the Desert Foothills Theater? Our Offices are located at 34250 N. 60th St, Bldg B (Orion Bldg), Scottsdale AZ 85266, in the Holland Community Center on the same campus as the PVCC and YMCA. The Community Center is the first building on the left as you enter off of 60th.
Where is the actual Performing Space? AHA! Now we're talking! We perform our main season productions at the Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center just down the street from our offices. That address is 33606 N. 60th St., Scottsdale AZ 85266, it's a performing arts center, on the same street as the offices, just look for the school sign with the LED lights/reader board, thats the driveway! (it's right next door to the Black Mountain Elementary School on one side and the school bus barn on the other!)
What time are your performances? Our childrens productions, where mostly kids are performing, begin at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday and 2 pm on Sunday. Our adult productions, where mostly adults are performing, begin at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday and 2 pm on Sunday. Our DFT Presents Series of Tribute Bands, begin at 2 pm on Sundays. Our Cabarets (at the Holland Community Center) begin at whatever time is specified on the tickets. It may vary with artist. Kids Camps and Classes production start times vary with each one, check with the instructor to verify start times and locations for those events, or just shoot an email to the office and we'll find out for you!
How do you select the shows DFT Produces? There is a Selection Committee who assists in selecting the shows for each season for Desert Foothills Theater. They read the scripts for each of the shows being considered and offer insights, suggestions, concerns and ideas. This is a process for next season starts as soon as the current season opens.
I'd like to work on a show backstage, what do I need to do? First thing is let our Managing Director Tia Wooley know! Email her at Tia@azfcf.org and let her know what you want to do. Typically, we fill the positions for Production Staff before we even release the season to the public, so if you are interested in working in or assisting with any of the following positions, let us know soon! Director, Music Director, Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Choreographer, Set Construction, Scenic Painter, Backstage Crew, Light Design, Sound Design, Board Operator, Spotlight Operator, Costume Design, Stitchers, Hair & Make-up Design, Hair & Make Up artists, Props Design, Dialect Coach, Dramaturg, Usher, Concessions, House Managers, Set up and Take down for events and many other things. Some positions come with a stipend, some are volunteer.
